Nepal’s Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been arrested by the police. The police arrested him from Gundu in Bhaktapur on Saturday. The police have handed over an urgent arrest warrant to him.
The cabinet meeting held immediately after the formation of the new government on Friday had decided to implement the report prepared by the inquiry commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki.
The commission formed to investigate the Gen Z protests had recommended that the government investigate Oli in a criminal case. Based on the report submitted by the Gauri Bahadur Karki-led commission on Chaitra 24, the Council of Ministers on Friday decided to implement the recommendation to take criminal action against Oli and the then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. The commission has held them responsible for the shooting of teenagers in Baneshwor, Kathmandu, during the Genji protests held on Bhadra 23 and 24.
