Nepali Diaspora in NZ Gears up for Major ‘Nepal Festival 2026’

   March 19, 2026

The Nepali community living in New Zealand has intensified preparations to host the Nepal Festival in a grand manner once again this year. The festival, aimed at promoting Nepali art, culture, traditions, and cuisine, will be celebrated in two major cities.

The first event will take place in Auckland. Scheduled for April 11 at Aotea Square, the event is being actively prepared by the organizing body, the New Zealand Nepal Society. The festival will feature a variety of attractions, including cultural dances, live music, fashion shows, and stalls offering traditional Nepali food.

Similarly, the festival will be held in Christchurch on April 18. With active participation from the Nepali community residing in the South Island, the event is expected to showcase Nepali culture prominently. Organizers have stated that there will also be notable participation from the local Kiwi community. The Christchurch event is being organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) New Zealand.

The Nepal Festival is believed to not only promote Nepali identity on an international level but also strengthen unity and cooperation within the community. This year’s events in both cities are expected to be a special celebration for the Nepali diaspora.
