Newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki has taken the oath of office and secrecy.
President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Karki amidst a ceremony held at Sheetal Niwas, the Office of the President, on Friday evening.
Following the Gen Z uprising that took place on September 8 and 9, the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had resigned and sought refuge with the security agencies.
Karki was unanimously recommended for the position of Prime Minister by the protesting Gen Z groups and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balendrea Shah.
Following this, the President and the Chief of Army Staff had held discussions at various stages.
Karki was appointed Prime Minister today with the mandate to hold general elections within six months.
